Las Vegas Nevada: In perhaps the most startling TV introduction at CES LG unveiled a roll-up TV that silently and rigidly rises from a small 10-inch tall-and-deep speaker box, then recedes back into the box just as silently, to completely disappear.

The 4mm-thin 65-inch 4K OLED TV R (for roll-up or retractable) can also descent into its home leaving merely a foot-tall sliver to display a handful of non-TV options including music playback and smart home controls.

LG plans on selling the startling OLED TV R in the second half of this year at an unannounced but likely unaffordable-to-most price.

Bytes and Pieces: The estimated 150,000 attendees at CES (seemingly shrinking every year) is still the biggest U.S. trade show. But the CES crowd might be facing its longest road back to their homes as the TSA strike rolls on. Leaving the Las Vegas airport under any circumstances difficult this time of year but with the strike, there could be a huge boon to the hotels or rent a car business for people not getting their flights home.

Asian based audio maker dubbed  ”Changer” showed off its Swiss Army Knife of earphones, Apart from offering terrific audio,  its neckband transforms into a multi-purpose cable that can be used as a data transfer cable, can charge devices and has the cool ability to borrow or steal power from one smartphone to power the other. Changer is built with a Micro USB, Lightning and USB-C connections, eliminating the need to deal with the hassle of lugging around bulky adapters and extra charging cables while on the go.

Acer unveiled two new Windows 10 gaming notebooks, the Predator Triton 900, a 17-inch performance notebook featuring a slim design and convertible 4K display — and the Predator Triton 500 — a 15-inch all-metal gaming powerhouse measuring just 17.9 mm (0.70 inches) thin. Both gaming notebooks combine new, functional designs with powerful internals that rival gaming desktops.

“We are pushing the envelope on what a gaming notebook can be with designs that offer more uses while still packing in the computing power,” said Jerry Hou, General Manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business at Acer. “The Predator Triton 900’s one-of-a-kind flipping screen allows for multiple gaming scenarios and better ergonomics, while the Triton 500 offers superb gaming performance in a slimmer, all-metal body for gamers on the go.
