AIPTEK 3D HD CAMERA/CAMCORDER

By Livia Bergovoy…

The Aiptek 3D HD Camera/Video Camera Combo is cute. And for those (of us) must-be-the-first-to-have-that-tech-toy it’s a, well, a must-have. The Aiptek is really easy to use and has a nice crisp 2.25″ (6 cm) diagonal color screen, which displays the photos and videos in 3D. When the camera is turned on, a 3D moving image appears which reminds me of those 3D post cards from the time when my grandparents didn’t have children yet.

The 3D effect is more discernible when the objects are close to the lenses (there are two lenses). For instance, I photographed my computer mouse, mouse pad, and the corner of my keyboard from a distance of about two feet; from that proximity, the 3D effect was discernible in Aiptek’s display. On the other hand, when I shot the view from my window, with its sweeping N.Y.C. skyline across the Hudson River, which is a distance of about a mile, the still shot and video were flattened and a bit like a sharp double exposure. The good thing is that the Aiptek camera comes with a 2D setting, which creates traditional digital images and videos.

I am (as always) amazed at the ingenuity of our fellow humans and especially awed by the goals than can be reached through technology.
