Document Management and the Fujitsu ScanSnap

By Livia Bergovoy…

Journal entry – Nov. 1, 2010: We got our Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Scanner and got so busy scanning (then shredding said scanned) docs, we didn’t have time to tell you about it. Until now.

Paper hoarders listen up: Get yourself a ScanSnap, scan your papers. The automatic document feeder (ADF) scans both sides at once! In color!!!) Don’t concern yourself about filing them. Leave it for later — just like you did with your actual paper.

Right off the top we’ll say, we still need to discover a work-around or a software fix for when the CardMinder software is up and running, and a document is scanned and the CardMinder tries to suck the document into the cardminder database, instead of the ScanSnap Organizer database. But never mind. We are so pleased to have searchable PDFs — just in case we need to find last year’s bill from the plumber (something to do with a tax exemption?).

In the next journal entry, we’ll tell you about the pre-digital photos we scanned to . jpg. Don’t worry, we’re not going to shred those. At least, we don’t think so…
