Alexa compatible speakers go upscale with High Fidelity Musica CD/Radio System

Como has a bevy of super high-fidelity radios and CD players and Internet-based players, but now, Como Audio customers will enjoy the convenience of using Amazon Alexa’s skills to browse, organize and listen to music throughout the house with voice commands. The New Musica model has high-fidelity sound and elegant design.

Because Como is a worldwide brand, we’ve always found that it takes a while to program their products in English to activate the Internet or, in this case, make them sync with Amazon’s Alexa. But once doing that, the quality of the audio is such that it’s worth the trouble.

After naming the system, such as “Bedroom” “Living room” or “Kitchen,” and enabling pairing through the Alexa skill App, voice control is possible through commands such as “Alexa, play BBC radio in Kitchen” or “Alexa, pay Neil Young in Bedroom” or “Alexa, play the Rolling Stones CD in Living room.” The Alexa device no longer needs to be connected to the Como Audio system physically or via Bluetooth. Those who don’t own an Alexa device have the option to connect one at any time in the future.

After connecting to the Alexa App, the listener can play many music sources including Sirius-XM, Pandora, Spotify through their Como Audio system (some of these are already integrated into the Musica. The Como Audio Musica high fidelity music system features an integrated slot-loading CD player. It comes with presets for favorite music sources, a 3.2” color display for Artist/Song metadata and available album art, a clock with dual independent alarms, Internet Radio accessing 20,000 stations including Podcasts, multi-room capability, and Bluetooth with aptX. The adjustable EQ allows for bass, treble, balance and loudness control and there is a telescoping external antenna for FM.

Musica measures 16” W x 6-1/2” D x 5-5/8” H. Its suggested MSRP is $599 in Walnut, $649 in Hickory, Piano Black or Piano White, and comes with a 2-year warranty.

De Vesto’s Products still Hi-Fi music to our ears

Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame member Tom DeVesto, while sometimes a little cranky and sometimes a little vague when answering tech questions, is nevertheless one of a dying breed in consumer products in general: He really cares about quality, service, and aesthetics.
