Samsung Chef Collection
By Amy Eller
BK Yoon and the folks at Samsung have absolutely knocked my socks off. And let me just say, my socks don’t knock off easily.
The Samsung Living Atelier, appearing in NYC’s Meatpacking District, showcased the absolute Rock Stars of the culinary world, topping it off with the 2015 appliance line for this Foodie/Luxury Lifestyle journalist.
There were so many Michelin Stars in the room as The Club des Chefs brought out Daniel Boulud, Michel Troisgros, Eric Frechon and Christopher Kostow, my personal crush and holding the flag for the Americans, creating gorgeous food on the new Samsung Chef Collection appliances.
Dipping into Chef Frechon’s Duck Foie Gras Royale with Sorel Foam I surveyed the fridge selection with a critical eye. Clearly the consumer is first in mind in the design of these appliances. Keeping food fresh and within reach is always my biggest gripe and Samsung has it down. Triple Cooling provides precise temperature and humidity control regardless of how often the door is opened.
Chef Mode, oh I just love it, Chef Mode allows you to intelligently set the temperature in 3 different zones and minimizes fluctuation. If you set the fridge at 36 degrees it will automatically determine the optimal temperature to use in each area for all different types of ingredients. But this is the best, the Fridge In Freezer. Just when you need it you can convert the bottom right compartment from a fridge into a freezer. Maybe soon it will order my groceries and open from the back so Fresh Direct can just load me up! (Thank you to Faith Popcorn on that one!)
The High Performance Range offers Flex Duo Technology – so what appears to be a single oven actually functions as a double. Upper and lower cooking zones can be used to say, bake and use induction independently with no mingling of flavors.
The dishwashers have a Pro-Water Wall so you actually get clean dishes the first time around and the third rack is a flex tray so you can safely clean all cutlery in the washer.
I’m loving Samsung and cannot wait to try these appliances out for myself. And maybe Christopher Kostrow will give me a personal lesson in Frozen Hot Chocolate.
