Lynx Grill’s Voice Operated Grill

Lynx Grill, Inc. has announced a smart grill that will cook food based on the user’s voice commands. The grill uses audio, visual alerts and mobile platforms to give the user minute-to-minute information on their food through the online database that detects the optimal temperature and grilling technique for the given food item.

 
BeeWi Hi Fi Blue Tooth

BeeWi is revamping their entire product line starting with Bluetooth headphones. The BBH300 is compatible not only with the user’s mobile device or mp3 player, but with HiFi systems as well. BeeWi also announced a totally connected fighting robots. The user can control the toys with an app on iOS or Android devices. The robots are armed with infrared guns, which detect “damage” and allow the user to create what BeeWi calls a “lively battlefield.”

BeeWi also announced four new fully connected home products. The Smart Color Light, the Smart Weather Station, The Smart Proximity Sensor and the Smart Plug. All are designed to give the user minute-to-minute information and control of appliances in your house and the conditions outside.

World’s Smallest Laptop Adapter

The FINsix Corporation has unveiled the world’s smallest laptop power adapter. The 65W FINsix Adapter is 4 times smaller and 6 times lighter than most market adapters. FINsix says this is made possible by using their “Very High Frequency” power conversion technology. Production  of the adapter will begin in the middle of 2014.


Orbitox’s Connected Toys

Orbitox has announced the next step for their line of connected toys with the new addition to the Sphero toy family. The Sphero 2B will be a speedy fully controllable toy that will push the brand to new limits. The Sphero 2B will be available worldwide in the fall of 2014 for under $100. Customizable parts will be announced at a later date.

 

Smart TV Apps

The Smart TV Alliance has announced a one-stop portal to develop apps for smart TVs. The portal is touted to simplify both development and implication of apps for developers – thereby making it easier for consumers to get their hands on the apps they need. The Common Developer Portal will launch on May 1 2014.


Sony’s 4K Projector

Sony announced a Short Throw Projector that eliminates the need for ceiling mounts and will turn any wall into a 147-inch 4K display. The technology is designed to use lasers to display the image on the wall to which it sits closest. Ben Q has also produced a similar projector for this year.

 

Dual OS Technology

 Intel has unveiled its experimental dual Operating System technology. In collaboration with Asus, Intel has taken the first steps into having one device switch between two operating systems at will. On the CES 2014 show floor they demonstrated switching from Android to Windows 8.1 in a matter of seconds.

 

FLIR’s Thermal Imaging

 FLIR has announced the first ever thermal imaging option available for consumers at a reasonable price with the FLIR ONE. The FLIR ONE is designed as a case for the iPhone 5 and 5s that will attach and interface with the camera, allowing the user to see in various conditions – including complete darkness. The FLIR ONE is slated to release in the spring of 2014 for under $350.

 

Pebble Steel

Pebble was one of the first companies to enter into the smart watch market and they have announced their next step with the introduction of the Pebble Steel. The Steel retains all of the original Pebble’s features while becoming more versatile, lighter and come equipped with a screen made of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. The Pebble Steel can be ordered on their website for $249 and will ship on January 28.WCES 2014 Roundup – Day Three

 

Not far away from the humongous Las Vegas Convention Center you can find several “off-site” events in which smaller companies and even major corporations unveil some pretty good new and unusual products that eventually might make the main floor. Dubbed Table Top Shows, Showstoppers and Pepcom are the big showcases this year. Here are some highlights from these events.

The NeatConnect from Neat is aiming to give small businesses the easiest way to use cloud computing to organize all of their documents. The NeatConnect allows the user to scan their documents and access them immediately from several devices by way of the cloud.

 

ALKILU’s OLED Lighting

ALKILU has unveiled their line of affordable OLED lighting products for home and personal use. They say they are trying to make OLED lighting affordable and easily attainable for anyone. Westinghouse Digital and Ben Q are also entering this space, but aiming for higher price point upwards of $600 and perhaps a different retail status.

 

Parkopedia and Ford Team Up

Parkopedia, the world leading parking information provider, has announced a partnership with Ford that will make the service compatible with Ford AppLink in-car technology.

 Pixeom’s Personal Cloud Device

 

Pixeom had on display a personal cloud device that aims to keep the user’s information safe in the event of a security breach. The device allows for several other devices to connect and make a personal network to keep all data safe and secure. The device also allows the user to share any data they want to be out in the open while still keeping the secret stuff a secret.

 

 
MediaFire’s Cloud Storage Apps

MediaFire has given the public a sneak peek of their next generation of cloud storage apps for iOS, Android, OSX and Windows. The company is touting their 50 free gigs of cloud storage for subscribers.

 

  Geonaute 360

The Geonaute 360 is the industry’s first 360-degree action camera. The device comes equipped with three wide-angle optics and 8 MP CMOS sensors to give a nearly complete 360-degree view (and a 150-degree view vertically) of its surroundings. The Geanaute is also the first of its kind to stitch the images together on the camera, meaning there will be no post processing needed. Pricing to be announced soon.

 

Fingerprint Locked Vaporizer

Vapor Corp., one of the biggest names in the vaporizer trend, has unveiled the industry’s first fingerprint locked vaporizer. Kevin Frija, CEO of Vapor Corp., says the fingerprint augmentation will prevent anyone other than the primary user from using the device. The device will retail for between $199 and $299 and is expected to launch by Q4 2014.

 

 
$6,800 Elio Automobile

Elio Motors has announced their gas powered, ultra low-cost, 5-star safety vehicle. The Elio is expected to cost about $6,800 and will run at 84 mpg highway.  The Elio will also be upgradable and customizable, down to the color and transmission of the vehicle.

eFlow Electric Bicycles Arrive

The eFlow electric bike has taken a trend born in Europe and brought it to the US. The eFlow will come equipped with a high capacity battery mounted in the seat tube (for easy charging), regenerative breaking and quick release wheels with simple watertight motor connectors. The eFlow family includes the E3 Nitro for $4,000, the E3 Flight for $3,500 and the E3 Fit, for $3,500 MSRP.

AGNITiO’s  Voice iD

AGNITiO says that the current security options for most phones are both cumbersome and insecure, and the unique facet of one’s voice provides the optimal security measure for ensuring the safety of one’s property.

Cooking Appliances with Android Interfaces

Dacor is set to introduce the world’s first cooking appliances complete with Android interface. The appliances are aiming to allow the user to manipulate the settings of the appliance from afar (like if the user is running late from work). Dacor’s reveals include the Discovery™ iQ 48” Dual-Fuel Range and the Discovery™ iQ 30” Wall Oven. Samsung and LG and Maytag, are all expected to add more Internet technology to their already WiFi and screen based systems.

 Vyper’s Three-in-one Tablet

The Vyper is the industry’s first three-in-one tablet, smart TV and gaming device. The Snakebyte Vyper is a tablet that can be attached to a TV, allowing the consumer to stream media at their will as well as play any games available on the Google Play store with the bundled in controller.

Vuzix Virtual Display

Vuzix has unveiled a virtual display device that can be used with traditional glasses. The device hooks on to the user’s glasses and run applications from any compatible device (tethered via WiFi or Bluetooth).

 

A Safe Gun Box?

The GunBox aims to be the world’s first quick access gun safe. The GunBox is intended to open with the touch of a fingerprint, which is to be programmed by the user. The goal is to provide a safe place to store the user’s firearm with simple access in the event of an emergency. For an added level of security the GunBox will send a text message to the user when the box is tampered with or moved.

 

ITG Pro Screen Protector

 Patchworks has unveiled their new screen protector for smartphones called ITG Pro. The differentiating factor between this product and those that are already on the market is that the ITG Pro is made of actual glass. Weon Rhee, Patchworks’ Chief operating officer and co-founder of Patchworks Inc., says he wants to introduce the North America to the idea of a protective glass screen protector and ensure that no one ever wants to go back to the current options.

 

Neet Sleeve Untangles Wires

With the tangle of wires always growing under desks and behind entertainment centers it’s a wonder it took so long for anyone to come up with a solution. Neet Sleeve is a product designed to shorten wires and untangle messes. Neet Products says the first in the line-up is ready for the iPhone’s thunderbolt cable, but more are coming soon – including designs for Beats headphones and Samsung devices.
